Who we are: we are a group of people who come together for the express purpose of sharing our ideas and information about hardware hacking and building. We would like to create a collaborative environment where new members feel comfortable learning, trying new things, and bringing new ideas. We are all in different stages of constantly learning and our goal is to raise the common knowledge of our group and of the Lafayette area on the topic of electronics, microcontrollers, robotics, and other hardware related topics.
Under the greater umbrella of the Lafayettech group, we bring the hardware expertise to bring life to member’s concepts and ideas in the form of prototypes and training. We advocate for and bring awareness of the activities of Lafayettech as well as Tech Labs in an effort to get as many people involved as possible.
Although our primary goal is one of knowledge sharing, training and collaboration, it is with the knowledge that individual members own the full rights to any of their ideas or projects. If a member feels they have created a prototype of an item they believe might be marketable and they would like to pursue further development as a startup or product idea for a company, Tech Labs will attempt to guide them through the process with the assistance of the resources of the Lafayettech group.
The eventual culmination of this collaborative group would be a location where dues paying members could come at any time to use available tools to work on projects. To this end, the group will work to acquire tools that will benefit the current members as well as hopefully attract new members. |
